Driving Requirements
To become a taxi driver in Singapore, you must first acquire a Taxi Driver Vocational Licence (TDVL) issued by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
Prerequisites:
- Singapore Citizen
- At least 30 years old
- Holds a valid Class 3 Singapore driving licence for at least one year
- GCE ‘O’ / ‘N’ Level or a Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3 pass in English, with at least a D7 grade
- Clean criminal record
Procedure:
- Application: You may use your SingPass to apply online at GoBusiness Singapore, with a payment of $40 to LTA for the non-refundable application fee. You should receive an approval letter from LTA within 15 working days if all your documents are in order.
- Medical Check-Up: Upon approval by LTA, you will receive a medical form by mail. Undergo a complete medical check-up, including a chest x-ray, at any clinic in Singapore.
Documentation Required:
- LTA’s approval letter
- Completed medical form with X-ray results
- Proof of English proficiency (GCE ‘O’ / ‘N’ Level or WPL-CAT)
- Photocopy of NRIC and driving licence
